d3rang3d Interviews : Keith Bradley
Now, here's one we stumbled across that looks a real treat - a supernatural tale packed full of horror and sexy ladies! If there was ever a better magnet to grab d3rang3d's attention then I'm yet to find it.
Director Keith Bradley took a real risk and overcame some huge hurdles getting this treat completed and to our screens and I'd urge you all to check it out.
You don't want to listen to me though - you can check out the Sacrificed Myspace HERE and hear Keith's own thoughts on the movie in our interview. Without further ado, I give you Keith Bradley of Sacrificed :
d3rang3d : For our readers who haven't had a chance to see Sacrificed can you tell us a little bit about the film?
Keith Bradley : Sacrificed is the tale of AMBER a dowdy student that soon becomes the slave of sybilinka, indonesian idol she buys in an antique shop...she goes on a killing spree, it all comes to a climatic end with Amber inviting all her sexy girlfriends over to her newly aquired mansion house for the sleepover party from Hell...
d3rang3d : Many people would envy you taking a chance and selling your flat to finance the movie and fund your dream - but, any regrets, would you do it again? And, any advice for anyone looking to follow a similar route?
Keith Bradley : I would do it all again in a flash! I mean, what the fuck are we living for if we don't invest in our own dreams??? Everyone seems to be getting more and more frightened about living! Fuck that, I'd rather laugh, poor in the gutter knowing i did my best to make myself happy, and productive.
When we are on our death beds, the last thing we would be thinking about is how many hours we spent in the office, or at some other mindless boring fucking job..NO! What will race through our minds is the killer laughs and special moments we created for ourselves and freinds!
So, YES sell your house, sell your car, and Granny, go make the film U want to make and fuck everything else! Afterall, a man who knows what he is doing has nothing to fear!
d3rang3d : Scottish Screen turned the movie down for funding after learning it was a horror film. Does this attitude surprise you, and do you think there's a tendency within official bodies to neglect horror as a genre?
Keith Bradley : Scottish screen sent us a letter on my first time out as producer of BLOOD JUNKIES (16mm Horror feature 1993) "We don't fund shlock horror etc"...THIS time for Sacrificed, I gave them the benefit of the doubt...Looked at their funding form for 2sec's and burst out laughing! Q."How will your film benefit Scottish culture?" A. "FUCK OFF!! Scotland has NO culture, and i dont make films with CULTURE in mind! WANKS!! I threw their pissy form in the bin, and headed to the bank! Withdrew an initial £10.000 threw the bag of cash to my producer and said,"Come back when that runs out!"

d3rang3d : What's your fondest memory from making Sacrificed?
Keith Bradley : I have no real fond memories of making the film, i was swamped with jealous, backstabbers, who stole equipment, CASH, footage etc...I couldnt believe what went on! In the end I had to threaten extream violence on someone if they didnt hand by the footage that was mine..another LONG story!
If ANY of your readers are intent on making a film, with your own cash, make sure you get in prof people you can rely on..and not backstabbing junkie, alchie fucks..You have been warned!
BUT! What an amazing learning experience..not only did i self finance, film sacrificed in 2weeks, and put up and weathered all the production pish, It WON "Best Horror" at the New York International, independent film festival. That sorted all those cunts out : ) I figured the best revenge it to become sucsessful!!!
d3rang3d : And what's your favourite scene in the movie? Also, are there any scenes you've looked at since and thought you'd like to go back and do differently?
Keith Bradley : I loves the axe in the head scene, and the sceance scene. I wouldnt go back and change anything, Sacrificed is a great calling card for whatever talent i have..It was designed to let people know i can deliver a killer film on a micro budget.

d3rang3d : And were there ever any setbacks during the transition to the screen that made you despair?
Keith Bradley : Not really...I edited at in my living room..then screened it a few times here in Edinburgh in the Cinema, and it looked amazing on the big screen. Again the only set back was employing the wrong people at the beginning of the project.
d3rang3d : Any interesting stories - funny or serious - that you can tell us from the making of the movie?
Keith Bradley : Hmmm where do i start??? Ha! YES, err..The male actor (Ross Mitchell) who plays Nick in the film, he was tied to a chair, and was to be "sacrificed" by Amber, who did a sexy move down the stair and begins slicing him up with her dagger...anyway, he was shite at giving out the proper amount of "Screamage!" so i did a really cruel thing, which was to order the whole cast a chinese food banquet, called everyone to dinner, and left him tied to the chair starving, and with the cameras still rolling on him...We managed to get the screams we wanted at that point! Needs must etc...
d3rang3d : Any one among cast and crew of Sacrificed that you'd like to single out for a special mention?
Keith Bradley : Two people that really boosted the production was Stephen Boyd, and Robin Mitchell..they were serious about their parts and were a great laugh also, as they both her their ego well sorted before, during and after filming. a Hugh thanks to them.

d3rang3d : Did working on a limit budget mean that there was anything you had to drop from the film that you would have liked to have included? And, if so, what?
Keith Bradley : No, we got everything done that we planned. I managed to keep the budget down, coz i trippled up on jobs, writing, directing, finance, music, editing bla lba, I don't mean to come across as some smart arse, there was no real option.
d3rang3d : You've mentioned in some previous articles that I've read that you wanted to create a movie with a classical Hammer type style - I'm guessing you'd list Hammer among your movie influences? And any other movies you feel have influenced you?
Keith Bradley : The Brides of Dracula, was instrumental in influencing Sacrificed...I SHIT myself as a young kid (7) when i caught it late on Friday night in the early 1970's, I have only been able recently to see it again on DVD, and i am surprised how much i remember about it. It looks a bit cheesy now, but back when i was a kid, it all seemed REAL.
Rosemarys baby aslo i remember as a major influence.
d3rang3d : Away from your own work, what films have really hit the spot for you lately?
Keith Bradley : A good wank..errr opps soz.. Nothing really...The last Horror I enjoyed was Darkness Falls...
d3rang3d : What (or who) - if anything/anyone - scares you in horror movies?
Keith Bradley : What i love, and which disturbs me, is not gore, blood or guts, but weird things characters say to each other, The Exorcist i loved when the possesed girl began to laugh and speak in different characters, what i think disturbs us is not Monsters, but other humans.

d3rang3d : What's next for Keith Bradley - and any plans for more movies in the horror genre?
Keith Bradley : I am going into production next summer with my crazy teen movie, full as per usual with violence, sex,and great laughs. I already have backers for the film, which has a finished script that is exciting others, thank fuck!
I am half way through writing my next horror, i did a pitch of the film to a few people who don't really know me and they loved the whole idea..I can't say what im going to make at the moment, but will keep you updated as i begin to make it.
d3rang3d : And, finally - the open non question. Your chance to say anything you like about any subject under the sun - thank the fans, cuss the critics, plug your favorite beer. Anything goes, so any final words?
Keith Bradley : Remember! If you want to be creative and make your dream project, you must keep in mind your toolkit to survival!

2. Surround yourself with other creative types, people in the real world are dead to dreams! Particularly yours! Aviod them when u can!
