Early Peter Jackson antic, made on a low budget long prior to his fortune and fame for hobbits fingering the dark lords ring, that's got plenty of gore and a great - but odd - sense of humour throughout it. Aliens, vomit drinking, brains, gory over the top blood and madness abound as bumbling government agents are called upon to hunt a raiding party of intergalactic corporate aliens using New Zealand locals as meat.

Shot on a micro budget and several years in the making, this is one of those films that has rightfully achieved cult status. Although in places it feels a tiny bit clumsy and awkward, this only serves to add to the charm. There's no let up, it never stops trying all the way through, if something misses the mark a little, a moment later there's a scene that hits it spot on.

How can a film that features sledgehammers, axes, guns, pesky seagulls munching on brains, and so much more possibly go wrong? Heck, it can't. It's got that great feel of people having fun, a kind of unique air about it, almost as if they grabbed a load of pissed up NZ'ers, bundled em into a car every weekend, and made a film.

It's fuckin' fun man, a blood spattered riot of slapstick comedy and bizarre, gory humour. You got to remember what fun is right? - back before every other horror movie released seems to have a budget it hasn't got a clue what to do with, no art to it, and just takes itself far too fuckin' seriously?
