Pesky scientists tinkering with DNA to make giant spiders, kids who talk like mutant ninja turtles after a few bongs, and a dashing hero called....Dash!

Well, there's your plot in a nutshell. You got scientists making giant spiders - all in the name of saving lives, man - and of course said spiders get out. Clever scientists plopped spider research facility in the snowy mountains near a ski resort. Why? Because spiders don't like the cold, so if they ever escaped they'd just hibernate. Yeah, like totally bogus dude, those scientists haven't got a clue. It's not long before spiders are chowing on the holidaying ski kids and it's down to Dash and co to save the day.

By now you're thinking 'cliched'. Well, you sure wouldn't be far wrong, it certainly is that. Even the dialog, right up to the rousing "we're doing it for you!" speeches from the scientists is as cliched as fuck, but one rather suspects it's intended to be. The movie has the feel of a play on b-movies and sci-fi mainstays.

So, it's cliched, but it's fun. Yeah, it's got that entertainment value that makes it enjoyable to watch, it doesn't try and take itself particulary seriously or change the world, it just keeps it light hearted throughout. There's chuckles to be had at the crap dialogue, or at Dash saving the day yet again. Christ, what a guy, he even manages to fuck up an evil arachnid by using a stuffed moose head!

I really couldn't help but like it. There's feck all new about it, but it's a laugh, there are some scenes that really hit the spot, and technicolour CGI spiders made for an enjoyable watch. Don't take it seriously and it's well worth some of your viewing time - give it a whirl, ya could do a whole lot worse than superhero Dash and his stoned ninja turtle sidekicks.
