A nod to Hitchcock, a touch of Donnie Darko, a smattering of Groundhog Day and a light pinch of Coma...
It's not really possible, or fair, to talk about this convoluted story without giving away the twists & secrets. Suffice to say that it is played out in a hospital after a young guy, who might be married, has suffered some kind of trauma which affects his memory, or his sense of reality, or just plain makes him paranoid!
Although the plot does dance around, it all takes place in just a few locations and with a fairly limited cast. I'm sure (if it wasn't the writer's intention) there is a play lurking in this idea too.
Acting is good enough, but never great (even from Stephen Rea, who has done much better), but it all moves along at such a pace with so many shifts and twists that you kinda just enjoy the story, without really engaging the brain too much.
I really rather enjoyed this, but I know, in my heart-of-hearts, that I shouldn't have. It is kind of a mediocre film, with a few great ideas that could have been exploited a lot better.
Be warned: watch before uncorking! It's a good waste of time, but if you don't pay attention, you will get lost! The plot flicks between timelines and reality & fantasy. As do I :D
