Ah back to 1990 when Full Moon was relatively young and it seemed that Charles Band's production company would never stop churning out classics such as Puppet Master, Trancers, Subspecies, etc... In the midst of all the long time series there was standalone flick called Shadowzone which I can still remember to this day. Shadowzone whilst essentially being a Alien clone to a large extent had a production value that elevated it above the crowd. It's a shame that such b-movies aren't still made to this calibre today with all the new fangled CGI and all.

The storyline revolves around a NASA agents visit to an experimental lab facility that is involved in conducting experimentation regarding sleep. Some of the tests being conducted don't go quite to plan and as a result a visitor from another dimension is brought to the lab and that's when the death count starts to kick in.

The storyline isn't particularly innovative, we've seen it all before, but like I said this movie stands tall mostly due to the production values. The SFX are superb for their day and still look fine now. the acting quality is above average and there are some memorable cast members also such as Shawn Weatherly, James Hong and Louise Fletcher.

The gore count ain't too bad either, some nice death scenes although gore isn't really its strong point. Most of the tension comes from old fashion suspense tactics, you know the score, lonely scientist searching dark corridors with a flash light kindda deal.

Shadowzone is definitely a decent b-movie and one well worth watching if you can find the time. Also look out for the nice bewbie scenes :P

Get the beer in for this one and enjoy.
